Driver's Education Information

Summer 2026

Registration for Glen Cove High School Summer 2026 Driver’s Education Program begins on Monday, June 8, 2026 and ends on Friday, June 12, 2026. Applications will be accepted at the High School Main Office daily from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The class is limited to 31 students. Preference is given to GCHS graduating seniors, with any additional spots available to juniors on a first-come, first-served basis. Any excess applications will be placed on a waiting list.

Please note that payment of $600, the application signed by a parent/guardian, and a copy of the student’s valid Learner’s Permit are required for the application to be accepted. Payments may be made by check or money order only, payable to the Glen Cove School District. Cash will not be accepted.

We will be offering one summer session of Driver’s Education. 

Summer Class Schedule

Theory Class meets Monday through Thursday every day from 6:30 AM - 8:00 AM.

Theory Classes will be held in the Middle School.

Lecture Dates: July 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, 29, 30

Driving Group I (2-hour blocks)

Dates: June 30, July 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 28, 29, 30, August 4, 5

  • Group 1:  8:00 AM - 10:00 AM

  • Group 2:  10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

  • Group 3:  1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

  • Group 4:  3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

  • Group 5:  5:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Driving Group II ( 1.5-hour blocks)

Dates: July 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, 29, 30
  • Group A:  8:00 AM - 9:30 AM
  • Group B:  9:30 AM - 11:00 AM
  • Group C:  11:00 AM - 12:30 PM

There is a Virtual Mandatory Parent / Student Meeting on Monday, June 22 at 8:00 PM where all rules and regulations will be explained by the instructors. Mr. Falen shared the Google Classroom Link with your child. Please log in promptly at 8:00 PM and join the meeting.

*Students will also select their driving group preference based on the order registration was received.

Please note that the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles mandates that students cannot miss more than TWO (2) sessions, and all missed sessions must be made up. Missing more than three sessions results in the immediate removal of the student from the course with no refund.
